Call Clyne is a lawyer referral service, not a law firm. Nothing here is legal advice. It is free, and so is talking to us.

It costs nothing to find out

If you are reading this and thinking you cannot afford a lawyer, read this part first. Personal injury lawyers do not charge you to talk, do not charge by the hour, and do not charge anything unless they recover money for you. The fee comes out of the recovery at the end, never out of your pocket. The first conversation is free. Call Clyne is free too: we ask you a few questions and connect you with a licensed Florida attorney who looks at your case at no cost. Nobody will ask you for money. First, the two things that matter most in Florida

See a doctor within 14 days. Florida is a no-fault state, and your own policy's Personal Injury Protection pays your first medical bills no matter who caused the crash, but only if you get treatment within 14 days. Casselberry does not have a hospital inside the city, but two are close. AdventHealth Altamonte Springs at 601 East Altamonte Drive, just west of US 17-92 across the city line, is a full hospital with a 24-hour emergency department, and Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital at 555 West State Road 434 in Longwood, a few miles north, has its own emergency room. Neither is a state-designated trauma center. The most seriously injured crash victims are usually taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in downtown Orlando or AdventHealth Orlando, the two Level I trauma centers for the region, about ten miles south by US 17-92 or Interstate 4, or north to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford, the Level II trauma center for Seminole County. Urgent care or your own doctor counts too. Read the 14-day rule guide.

Do not give the other driver's insurer a recorded statement. They will call fast and sound friendly. You are not required to talk to them. Read what to say when they call.

Getting your crash report in Casselberry

Inside city limits, the Casselberry Police Department responds to crashes, and its traffic unit investigates the serious ones. Its headquarters is at 4195 South US Highway 17-92, on the east side of the highway south of State Road 436, and the records section in the lobby there handles crash report requests Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a public records request option on the city website and a phone line at 407-262-7616. The city lines are tangled here: Altamonte Springs, Winter Springs, Longwood, Maitland, Winter Park and Oviedo each have their own police department, and Fern Park, the Goldenrod area and the unincorporated pockets of Seminole County between the subdivisions are covered by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, so a crash on the far side of US 17-92, State Road 436 or Howell Branch Road may belong to a different agency. South of the county line toward Goldenrod it is the Orange County Sheriff's Office. On US 17-92 and State Road 436 the Florida Highway Patrol often takes the serious crashes, and it led the investigation of the fiery crash that killed two people near Triplet Lake Drive in July 2026. Ask the officer at the scene which agency wrote the report and get the report number.

Florida crash reports are available online through the state's Florida Crash Portal, usually within about ten days, and from the responding agency's records unit. For the first 60 days the report is only available to the people involved, their insurers and their lawyers, so have your license and the report number ready.

Roads where Casselberry crashes happen

The stretches that come up most: US 17-92, which runs the length of the city from Fern Park and Maitland north past Lake Drive, State Road 436, Triplet Lake Drive and Seminola Boulevard toward Longwood, a wide, fast road lined with plazas, car lots and driveways, where two people died in a fiery crash in the southbound lanes at Triplet Lake Drive in July 2026, Semoran Boulevard, which is State Road 436 from Altamonte Springs east across 17-92 and Red Bug Lake Road toward Winter Park and Oviedo, the busiest road in the county, where a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in the westbound lanes at 17-92 in December 2022, Red Bug Lake Road from State Road 436 east past Dodd Road and Eagle Circle toward Winter Springs, where a six-vehicle crash near 436 injured four people in December 2025, Seminola Boulevard from 17-92 east to Winter Springs, Howell Branch Road along the south side of the city toward Winter Park, Winter Park Drive, and Lake Drive, where three people died when a car struck a tree near Park Drive. On 17-92, Semoran and Red Bug Lake the crashes are rear-ends at the lights, left turns across three lanes into a plaza, and lane changes around a car slowing to turn, and pedestrians and cyclists have been struck at night. On the open stretches of 17-92 and 436 they are high speed with several vehicles. Photos of the intersection, the signals and the lane markings matter, because these crashes often turn into arguments about who had the light or who changed lanes.

What to do in the first 48 hours

  • Call 911 and get a report, even for a "small" crash.
  • Photograph both cars, both licenses, both insurance cards, and the scene.
  • See a doctor within 14 days. Sooner is better.
  • Report the crash to your own insurer. Facts only.
  • Do not accept a quick check or sign anything from the other driver's insurer.
  • Keep every bill, receipt and visit summary.

Know the Florida clock

For most car accident injury claims in Florida you have two years from the date of the crash to file a lawsuit, and if you are found more than half at fault you recover nothing. Both changed in 2023. Details in How Long Do You Have to File in Florida.

When to talk to a lawyer

Not every fender bender needs one. Talk to a lawyer when you were injured and are still treating after a week or two, when the other driver was uninsured or fled, when fault is being disputed, or when you missed work. Florida personal injury lawyers work on contingency, which means no fee unless they recover money for you, and the first conversation is free.
