A rear-end on Palm Coast Parkway at Belle Terre Parkway in the afternoon rush, a T-bone where Old Kings Road meets State Road 100 by the shopping centers, a pedestrian struck along Belle Terre Parkway after dark, a single-car wreck on the Interstate 95 exit ramp at Palm Coast Parkway. If you were just in a crash in Palm Coast, or nearby in Flagler Beach, Bunnell, Beverly Beach, Marineland or Ormond Beach, and you are trying to figure out what to do next, this page is the short version, with the Palm Coast-specific details, and links to the full guides.

Call Clyne is a lawyer referral service, not a law firm. Nothing here is legal advice. It is free, and so is talking to us.

It costs nothing to find out

If you are reading this and thinking you cannot afford a lawyer, read this part first. Personal injury lawyers do not charge you to talk, do not charge by the hour, and do not charge anything unless they recover money for you. The fee comes out of the recovery at the end, never out of your pocket. The first conversation is free. Call Clyne is free too: we ask you a few questions and connect you with a licensed Florida attorney who looks at your case at no cost. Nobody will ask you for money. First, the two things that matter most in Florida

See a doctor within 14 days. Florida is a no-fault state, and your own policy's Personal Injury Protection pays your first medical bills no matter who caused the crash, but only if you get treatment within 14 days. Palm Coast now has two hospitals. AdventHealth Palm Coast at 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, off State Road 100 on the south side of the city, is the original hospital with a 24-hour emergency department, and AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway, which opened in August 2023 near the Interstate 95 interchange and Matanzas High School, has its own emergency room on the north side. Neither is a state-designated trauma center, and Flagler County does not have one, so the most seriously injured crash victims are usually flown or driven south to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, the Level II trauma center for the area, about 30 miles down Interstate 95. Urgent care or your own doctor counts too. Read the 14-day rule guide.

Do not give the other driver's insurer a recorded statement. They will call fast and sound friendly. You are not required to talk to them. Read what to say when they call.

Getting your crash report in Palm Coast

Palm Coast does not have its own police department. The city contracts with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, so deputies respond to crashes inside the city and the Sheriff's Office handles the report. The Palm Coast district office is at 14 Palm Harbor Village Way, off Palm Coast Parkway near the Hammock Dunes bridge, and the main Operations Center is at 61 Sheriff E.W. Johnston Drive in Bunnell, with public records requests handled through the Sheriff's Office website and by phone. The Sheriff's Office also covers unincorporated Flagler County, including the Hammock and Beverly Beach. Flagler Beach and Bunnell each have their own small police department, and across the county line to the south, Ormond Beach has its own police department and the Volusia County Sheriff's Office covers the unincorporated pockets, so a crash on the far side of State Road 100 or Old Dixie Highway may belong to a different agency. On Interstate 95, and often on US 1 and the state roads, it is the Florida Highway Patrol, which investigated several of the recent fatal crashes in the city. Ask the officer at the scene which agency wrote the report and get the report number.

Florida crash reports are available online through the state's Florida Crash Portal, usually within about ten days, and from the responding agency's records unit. For the first 60 days the report is only available to the people involved, their insurers and their lawyers, so have your license and the report number ready.

Roads where Palm Coast crashes happen

The stretches that come up most: Palm Coast Parkway, the city's main east-west road from the Interstate 95 interchange past Old Kings Road and Belle Terre Parkway to the bridge over the Intracoastal, a wide, fast road lined with plazas and driveways, where a 60-year-old driver was killed near Old Kings Road in September 2024, Belle Terre Parkway, which runs the length of the city from Matanzas Woods Parkway south past Palm Coast Parkway, Royal Palms Parkway and Pine Lakes Parkway to State Road 100, where a man walking along the road was struck and killed near Palm Coast Parkway in September 2023, Interstate 95 through the county with exits at Palm Coast Parkway, Matanzas Woods Parkway and State Road 100, where a 22-year-old died in a crash on the Palm Coast Parkway exit ramp in October 2023 and where chain-reaction crashes have closed the highway, State Road 100, Moody Boulevard, from Bunnell east past Interstate 95 and the Town Center shops to Flagler Beach, Old Kings Road, where a head-on crash at State Road 100 sent several people to the hospital, US 1 along the west side of the city, and Matanzas Woods Parkway. On Palm Coast Parkway, Belle Terre and State Road 100 the crashes are rear-ends at the lights, left turns across traffic into a plaza, and lane changes around a car slowing to turn, and pedestrians and cyclists have been struck at night. On Interstate 95 they are high speed with several vehicles. Photos of the intersection, the signals and the lane markings matter, because these crashes often turn into arguments about who had the light or who changed lanes.

What to do in the first 48 hours

  • Call 911 and get a report, even for a "small" crash.
  • Photograph both cars, both licenses, both insurance cards, and the scene.
  • See a doctor within 14 days. Sooner is better.
  • Report the crash to your own insurer. Facts only.
  • Do not accept a quick check or sign anything from the other driver's insurer.
  • Keep every bill, receipt and visit summary.

Know the Florida clock

For most car accident injury claims in Florida you have two years from the date of the crash to file a lawsuit, and if you are found more than half at fault you recover nothing. Both changed in 2023. Details in How Long Do You Have to File in Florida.

When to talk to a lawyer

Not every fender bender needs one. Talk to a lawyer when you were injured and are still treating after a week or two, when the other driver was uninsured or fled, when fault is being disputed, or when you missed work. Florida personal injury lawyers work on contingency, which means no fee unless they recover money for you, and the first conversation is free.
