It costs nothing to find out
If you are reading this and thinking you cannot afford a lawyer, read this part first. Personal injury lawyers do not charge you to talk, do not charge by the hour, and do not charge anything unless they recover money for you. The fee comes out of the recovery at the end, never out of your pocket. The first conversation is free. Call Clyne is free too: we ask you a few questions and connect you with a licensed Florida attorney who looks at your case at no cost. Nobody will ask you for money. First, the two things that matter most in Florida
See a doctor within 14 days. Florida is a no-fault state, and your own policy's Personal Injury Protection pays your first medical bills no matter who caused the crash, but only if you get treatment within 14 days. Titusville has a full hospital inside the city. Parrish Medical Center at 951 North Washington Avenue, on US 1 just north of downtown along the river, is a 210-bed hospital with a 24-hour emergency department. It is not a state-designated trauma center. The most seriously injured crash victims are usually flown or driven to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, the Level II trauma center for Brevard County, about 35 miles south by Interstate 95, or west to Orlando Regional Medical Center in downtown Orlando, the Level I trauma center for the region, about 40 miles by State Road 50 or the Beachline. Urgent care or your own doctor counts too. Read the 14-day rule guide.
Do not give the other driver's insurer a recorded statement. They will call fast and sound friendly. You are not required to talk to them. Read what to say when they call.
Getting your crash report in Titusville
Inside city limits, the Titusville Police Department responds to crashes, and its traffic unit, which works in unmarked cars, investigates the serious ones. Its headquarters is at 1100 John Glenn Boulevard, off US 1 south of downtown near the Max Brewer Bridge causeway, and the records section there handles crash report requests during business hours, with a public records request option on the city website. The city lines are tangled here: Mims and Scottsmoor to the north, Port St. John to the south and the unincorporated pockets along US 1 and State Road 46 are covered by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Cocoa has its own police department, and Merritt Island and the Kennedy Space Center side of the river are a mix of the Sheriff's Office and federal officers, so a crash on the far side of the city line on US 1, State Road 405 or State Road 50 may belong to a different agency. On Interstate 95, and often on State Road 50 and State Road 405 outside the city, it is the Florida Highway Patrol. Ask the officer at the scene which agency wrote the report and get the report number.
Florida crash reports are available online through the state's Florida Crash Portal, usually within about ten days, and from the responding agency's records unit. For the first 60 days the report is only available to the people involved, their insurers and their lawyers, so have your license and the report number ready.
Roads where Titusville crashes happen
The stretches that come up most: US 1, which runs the length of the city as Washington Avenue and Hopkins Avenue, past Garden Street, downtown and the hospital, then south past Harrison Street and Columbia Boulevard toward Port St. John, a wide, fast road lined with plazas, car lots and driveways, where a driver died in a crash on South Washington Avenue near Columbia Boulevard in November 2025, Cheney Highway, which is State Road 50 from Interstate 95 east to US 1, the city's busiest shopping corridor, where a 79-year-old woman was killed in May 2022 when a car turned across the westbound lanes into a store entrance, Columbia Boulevard, which is State Road 405 from Interstate 95 past the industrial parks and across the river to the Space Center, where a pedestrian was struck and killed near Windover Trail in March 2025, Garden Street, which is State Road 406 from the interstate through downtown to the Max Brewer Bridge, Interstate 95 along the west side of the city with exits at State Road 50, State Road 405, State Road 406 and State Road 46, Barna Avenue, South Street, and State Road 46 west toward Mims. On US 1, Cheney Highway and Columbia Boulevard the crashes are rear-ends at the lights, left turns across three lanes into a plaza, and lane changes around a car slowing to turn, and pedestrians have been struck crossing at night. On Interstate 95 they are high speed with several vehicles, and launch-day traffic to the Space Coast adds its own backups. Photos of the intersection, the signals and the lane markings matter, because these crashes often turn into arguments about who had the light or who changed lanes.
What to do in the first 48 hours

Know the Florida clock
For most car accident injury claims in Florida you have two years from the date of the crash to file a lawsuit, and if you are found more than half at fault you recover nothing. Both changed in 2023. Details in How Long Do You Have to File in Florida.
When to talk to a lawyer
Not every fender bender needs one. Talk to a lawyer when you were injured and are still treating after a week or two, when the other driver was uninsured or fled, when fault is being disputed, or when you missed work. Florida personal injury lawyers work on contingency, which means no fee unless they recover money for you, and the first conversation is free.
